Since the conception of his black and white shapes in 2015 and his first mural adorning a wall in Hampton in 2016, Kane has completed a multitude of “Seeing Shapes” murals throughout Hampton Roads and Richmond. Over the years, the shapes have taken on a life of their own and can now be seen traveling along roads on tractor trailers and dump trucks, engulfing entire buildings, and as a logo on his signature “Seeing Shapes” bucket hats and tees. In November 2021, Kane completed a ‘World of Shapes’ at the CAN Headquarters in Newport News. The exhibition consisted of more than 6,000 sq. ft. of Kane’s signature black and white murals, a floor-to-ceiling world where visitors found themselves immersed and enveloped in shapes. Since that time, Dathan has completed roughly 40 murals throughout Hampton Roads and beyond, participated in 21 exhibitions, and has been featured in WHRO’s curate docuseries.
