Marking the occasion of the U.S. Naval Academy’s anniversary, The U.S. Fleet Forces Band will perform as part of The Mariners’ Museum’s Fall Lecture Series.  The program will include Naval and patriotic music, as well as a discussion led by Lt. Cmdr. Bruce A. McDonald, who is the director of the Fleet Forces Band.  The band provides musical support for ships, military bases, foreign dignitatries, and many community events.  It is the largest of the Navy’s 11 fleet bands and is based in Norfolk.  Lt. Comdr. McDonald holds a master’s degree in instrumental conducting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
