Description

Deer Park is located on Jefferson Avenue, just south of J. Clyde Morris Boulevard, in the center of the city. The park has two entrances: at Robinson Road and at Groome Road. White-tailed deer used to be raised on a game preserve in this area before the land was dedicated as a public park; hence, the name "Deer Park." While white-tailed deer are no longer found here, Deer Park still has much to offer:

Boundless Playground

Public restrooms

Two lighted ballfields

Three picnic shelters available for rental for birthday parties, family reunions, or just to picnic. Call 757-888-3333 for information or reserve picnic shelters online here.

Beautiful camellia, azalea, and rhododendron blooms. In the spring, it's the perfect setting for a picnic.

Freshwater fishing in an interior lake.

Nearly 13 acres of woodlands, crossed by hiking trails and backing up to the Virginia Living Museum.
