Celebrating the youth of downtown Newport News, artist Michelle Richardson presents a very unique exhibit. With the goal of uplifting and inspiring today’s youth, Richardson has created a series of portraits and pieces depicting African-American children in what could be their future professions. These images are based on personal interviews with children, teachers and parents. In addition to the portraiture, the exhibit will also feature poems, autobiographical passages from the community’s youth and sculptural pieces.
