The 8th edition of the Newport News One City Marathon is in-person once again and is now bigger than ever! For the first time, this marathon event will take place over an entire weekend, March 4 – 6, with plenty of races, family fun, and celebrations throughout.
One City Marathon presented by Newport News Shipbuilding
March 6
Spanning the entire length of Newport News at 26.2 miles, this course is full of scenic views of the parks, waterfronts, historical neighborhoods, and the downtown “Yard District” of Newport News. After crossing the finish line, runners can celebrate the One City Celebration downtown. Runners will receive a long-sleeve technical shirt, custom finishers medal, and complimentary food and beer. One City Marathon Relay
March 6
An alternative way to experience the Marathon, grab a partner for the 26.2 mile course of the One City Marathon, exchanging at Menchville High School. Participants receive the same shirt, medal, food and beer as seen above. Click here to register.
BayPort Credit Union Half Marathon
March 6
If you’re only HALF-crazy, you can run along the second half of the One City Marathon course in a fast, flat point-to-point run. The course is full of scenic views with a finish in the downtown area of Newport News celebrating with the participants of the marathon and relay at the Yard District. Click here to register.
The Maritime 5K presented by Optima Health
March 5
The day before the marathon brings the Maritime 5K to City Center. Here, runners will experience the heart of the city’s retail and business district on a very flat and fast course. After crossing the finish line, head to Tradition Brewing Company for the first day of celebration. 5K participants will receive a short-sleeve shirt, finishers medal, and complimentary beer from Tradition. Nautical Mile Fun Run presented by Ferguson Cares
March 5
Kids of all ages get to run an actual nautical mile (on land of course)! Kids, both young and old, can dash one nautical mile, or 1.15 mi, through the streets of Newport News finishing at the City Center fountain. Parents may choose to run with their child if they need help staying on course or is under 4-years old. Either way, make sure you get some great pictures!
