Honoring Our Veterans in Newport News

There’s no better time than Veterans Day to thank those who are serving or have served in the military. Even the smallest act of recognizing someone's service is greatly appreciated. This Veterans Day, we suggest you attend one of these special Veterans Day events in Newport News to show your support for our “heroes and she-roes!”

Veterans Day Ceremony at the Victory Arch 

On Monday, Nov. 11, there will be a ceremony at the Victory Arch, located at 25th Street and West Avenue in downtown Newport News. Sponsored by the American Legion, Braxton-Perkins Post #25, this annual ceremony is held at 11 a.m.

The Virginia War Museum Honors Veterans with $1 Admission

The Virginia War Museum offers an additional $1 off discounted admission for military veterans and service members. Established in 1923, this fascinating museum houses collections of artifacts, weapons, vehicles, uniforms and posters trace the development of the US military from 1775 to the present.

The Mariners' Museum and Park 

The Mariners’ Museum and Park plans to host a special showing of "D-Day: Normandy 1944." The special screening runs for 40 minutes and will be shown at 9:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, and 3:30 pm. Learn more
