Irresistibly Sweet Treats in Newport News

It’s February, that time of year when taking a small detour to indulge our sweet tooth can become more of a survival mechanism than a guilty pleasure, as sugar replaces our natural Vitamin D boost during the last stretch of winter.

On the 14th day, we get to show that special someone how we feel in the form of sugary goodness, or just treat ourselves! So with Punxsutawney Phil predicting six more weeks of winter weather, we’ve put together some of our favorite sweet spots in Newport News to life our spirits!

There are few better places to indulge those guilty pleasures than Indulge Bakery itself in Newport News, where you will find a lovely European inspired bakery in the beautiful Historic Hilton Village. The delectable menu features breakfast, lunch and baked goods made from scratch.

A few doors down from Indulge Bakery, you’ll find Couture Cakes by Nika, which specializes in delicious, hand-crafted cakes that are perfect for any special occasion.

If you are craving a gourmet cupcake, head over to Smallcakes right off of Jefferson Ave. There you will find inspired cupcakes with unique recipes that change daily. To top it off, they offer homemade ice cream that can stand alone or be paired with a delicious cupcake!

Tucked away in Port Warwick is a delicious gem, Scratch Bakery. There you will find homemade goods that could make you forget you’re in a bakery, and not in grandma’s kitchen! If you’re looking for a “neighborhood bakery” with delightful cakes and cupcakes, stop by Scratch Bakery and do your taste buds a favor.

Last, but certainly not least, Nothing Bundt Cakes came to Newport News last year, and our sweet tooth is so glad they did. From specialty Bundt cake flavors such as chocolate turtle to your classic lemon, you won’t want to pass by this delectable establishment without giving it a try!

We hope you enjoy these sweet spots and get to indulge a little this month! For a full listing of places to eat, visit our “Sip and Savor” page!
