Audio CD Driving Tour CD Driving Tour

The Newport News Tourism Development Office has just released a brand-new audio CD driving tour, "Passport to Newport News." The CD driving tour is full of stories about Newport News and its fascinating history, brought vividly to life by talented actors, memorable music and exciting sound effects. Among the many stories told are those of Ann Garrow, who lived near the site of the Battle of Dam No. 1 during the Civil War, and Nathaniel Madison, who worked in the shipyard during World War I.

Twenty-three points of interest, including attractions, historic sites, parks, entertainment venues and shopping districts, are showcased in the driving tour, which features complete turn-by-turn audio directions. In addition to the audio CD, the "Passport to Newport News" also includes a tour booklet with printed directions and additional information about each site, as well as a reference map with a list of all the stops, so visitors can do the tour in one day, or over several days.

The "Passport to Newport News" audio CD driving tour can be purchased at the Newport News Visitor Center, 13560 Jefferson Avenue, exit 250B from I-64, at the entrance to Newport News Park. The cost is $12.95, plus tax. The CD can also be purchased by calling the Visitor Center at (888) 493-7386 or (757) 886-7777. Mail orders are also $12.95 plus shipping and any applicable tax.
