Newport News Hospitality Association Scholarship
The Newport News Hospitality Association is now offering college scholarships for students from Newport News who plan careers in the tourism and hospitality industry.
"Tourism and business travel are a vital and growing part of our city's economy, and we want to keep it that way," said Maureen Coon, president of the Hospitality Association. "That's why we're helping students who are interested in serving tomorrow's visitors to Newport News."
The association will award five one-year scholarships of $1,000 each. Eligible for the scholarships are graduating high school seniors who live and go to school in Newport News (public, private or home-schooled), and current workers in the city's hospitality industry who are also attending college. Scholarship recipients must pursue a field of study related to travel and tourism or hospitality management.
