"ZOOM In" on Newport News for a chance to win one of two $500 cash prizes!
Whether you are a Newport News resident or a treasured visitor to our great city, the Newport News Tourism Development Office (NNTDO) is inviting you to "ZOOM In" on Newport News and submit your images to our 2009 Photo Contest.
With two grand prizes of $500 cash and two honorable mention prize packages valued at approximately $300 ($50 MOTOPHOTO gift certificate for in-house printing services, plus VIP Passes to Newport News attractions for four people), there are plenty of incentives to get out your camera and start ZOOMing in on our city.
The theme of this year’s contest is “People Having Fun in Newport News.” Bonus points will be given during judging if the photograph has been taken with people at a Newport News attraction, park, restaurant, shopping venue or special event. This means if you have images from last year’s Celebration in Lights, Fall Festival, or other holiday images, you can still submit them!
You can submit up to 5 photos in one of two categories: Professional or Non-professional. For the purposes of this competition, professional is deemed to mean anyone who receives income from their photography and/or services. We have kept our criteria intentionally broad, to hopefully encourage you to submit entries that portray Newport News through your eyes.
Photographs containing people are also encouraged - we want to see you and your family and friends enjoying our city, but please read the contest rules and guidelines regarding images containing identifiable people and minors.
The contest begins April 30, 2009 and continues through September 30, 2009. Entrants must be at least 18 years or older to enter.
Images can be uploaded electronically (along with a completed entry form), or mailed to the NNTDO as a CD/DVD. Submission guidelines and the NNTDO mailing address can be found in the downloadable contest rules and guidelines PDF (links below).
