Newport News' Passionate People Contest Rules & Regulations
- Nominations for the Newport News Tourism Development Oiffice's Passionate People Contest will be accepted from February 14 through April 16, 2010.
- To be eligible, the nominee must work in Newport News in one of the following categories: attractions; entertainment/events; hotels/motels; parks; restaurants; retail; transportation or other tourism-related business be a U.S. citizen, or hold valid U.S. work credentials, and be age 18 or older. The person nominating must provide a statement of up to 100 words as to why they think their nominee has provided great experiences for their customers and/or guests and should be recognized as Newport News' "Most Passionate" tourism-related worker.
- A total of up to 54 prizes may be awarded: two Grand Prizes (one for the person chosen as Newport News' "Most Passionate" tourism-related worker and one for the person who nominated the Grand Prize winner) and two Honorable Mention Prizes (for the winner and the person who nominated the winner). A VIP pass, good for admission to all Newport News attractions, will be awarded to the first 50 people who submit a nomination. Prize details, including airline tickets, hotel packages and more, are listed on the NNTDO Web site at www.newport-news.org.
- Nominations will be accepted from all U.S. citizens, or holders of valid U.S. work credentials, who are age 18 or older. You may nominate up to two people. No purchase is required to submit a nomination. All NNTDO and Collins, Waters & Bridgman employees are not eligible to participate. The contest is void where prohibited. Any taxes on prizes are the responsibility of the winners.
- Electronic nomination forms can be found online at www.newport-news.org. Paper forms are available at the Newport News Visitor Center, 13560 Jefferson Avenue or at the Parks, Recreation & Tourism office in City Center at Oyster Point, 700 Town Center Drive, Suite 320. The Visitor Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The PR&T office is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but will be closed on Monday, February 15, 2010.
- Nominations may be submitted electronically at www.newport-news.org, by mail to the Newport News Visitor Center, 13560 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA 23603, or by fax at 757-886-7920. All eligible nominations will be judged by the Virginia Tourism Corporation.
